The September issue …
The September issue of American Iron magazine features an article about a 200mph Harley. I haven’t seen the issue yet on the newsstand (I’m deployed to Iraq…we are a bit behind the states as far as magazines go) but I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

actually if harley dropped their weight from 1,000 lbs to 400 like the sportbikes the track times would be pretty equal, but i still support HD all the way.

You can’t make a …
You can’t make a cruiser based V-twin that can compete with a sportbike, Ducati uses a V-twin in their bikes, but sportbikes are engineered completely differently that cruisers. If you want a smooth ride with lots of low end torque, you want a cruiser, if you want shitloads of horsepower on something that is BUILT to redline, you want a sportbike. They’re 2 different demographics man, there is no overlap. But HD owns Buell and MV Augusta, those are the companies to compete with Japanese bikes.

I always find it …
I always find it funny that people bust on Harley because of performance. Of course a sportbike will smoke a cruiser, but as far as cruisers go HD is at the top of the heap! the Fatboy won Cycleworld’s best cruiser of 07, and the Sportster beat out a Ducati and a Triumph there too. In case you think Cycleworld is Harleycentric, pick up a copy sometime, it’s all sportbikes. As for reliability, belt driven, rubber mounted engine and EFI nowadays. They’re much more reliable than before.
